Field, who operated the Detroit Glass Works and the Detroit Hoop Manufacturing company. In tandem with her husband, they were instrumental in establishing the \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Society_for_the_Prevention_of_Cruelty_to_Animals\" title=\"Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals\"\u003eMichigan State Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals\u003c\/a\u003e, and helped create state laws relating to the humane treatment of animals.
